We’ve been working on Movie Maker 3D 11.9 since July and due to a number of factors the going has been slow. Apple updated iOS, iPadOS and MacOS with a new design called Liquid Glass. The update fundamentally changed Movie Maker 3D without warning essentially making it unusable. The app looked bad and the iOS and MacOS updates seemed rushed out because there were so many OS bugs that we had to work around.
Problems & issues due to Liquid Glass UI in iOS and macOS 26.x include:
Interface Builder menus no longer supported (crash), so ALL app menus must be implemented and translated with code.
macOS bug causes all pop-up panels to crash when initiated via a toolbar button.
Many UI layout problems due to changes in button sizes, non-useable area sizes, toolbar and navigation bars, etc.
Liquid Glass adds translucent backgrounds in random parts of UI that look bad.
macOS video player buttons are non-functional (grayed out) if it’s initialized without a video file URL (not previously required nor required on iOS).
macOS Save Files dialog crashes all the time.
SwiftUI popup menus crash when added to a navigation bar, requiring recoding using UIKit.
App tint colors no longer work unless set on main Window during app launch, causing many buttons to be unreadable.
Well-known iOS and macOS app developer Steve Troughton-Smith posted this on November 18 about the difficulties of supporting Liquid Glass: “If you haven't been able to ship your iOS/macOS 26 update yet and have been feeling bad about it, just remember: Apple still hasn't shipped iWork with Liquid Glass, and Apple also opted all its pro apps out of Liquid Glass.”
We’re hoping to get our update out very soon! Thanks for your patience.
